Nischalananda Saraswati, the current Shankaracharya of Shri Govardhana Peeth of Puri, Odisha, India, inaugurated the temple of Adya Shankaracharya constructed in front of the main gate of the Pashupatinath Temple amid a function here today. The temple, devastated by the 2015 earthquake, was reconstructed.

According to the Vedic Sanatani tradition, Adya Shankaracharya is considered as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He established four Peethas in four corners of the Indian subcontinent to protect Sanatana religion and culture. These Peethas are being run as per rules made by him.
He visited Nepal at the age of 28 or 30. Lichhavi King Shivadev ruled the country when he arrived here in 478 BC.
The entire Sanatana religion followers were excited and gathered to pay homage to him in Nepal, it has been said.
He then delivered his sermon in the premises of the Pashupatinath Temple. As a result, there was awareness among Nepal people about Hindu religion, and his disciples spread religious awareness.
