NMC Reports High Failure Rate in Recent Specialist Doctor’s License Exam
The Nepal Medical Council revealed that nearly half of the examinees failed the specialist doctor’s license examination conducted on Friday across 25 different categories. Out of the 183 participants, only 94 successfully passed, leaving 89 candidates falling short of meeting the passing criteria.
Adding a layer of complexity, the council has chosen to withhold the results of six individuals due to their failure to present the required identity cards as specified during the examination process.
Registrar Suprabhat Shrestha, speaking on behalf of the Council, reassured that the examination was conducted without any irregularities. However, he acknowledged the disappointment for those who did not achieve the desired results. Candidates dissatisfied with their exam outcomes are encouraged to apply for re-evaluation within the next 35 days.
It is worth noting that the Nepal Medical Council conducts these specialized exams three times a year, and this recent outcome follows a trend. In a previous instance, held on July 28, 48.33 per cent of candidates passed the specialist doctor’s license examination, indicating a recurring challenge for aspiring specialists.
The results of this examination raise questions about the preparedness of candidates and may prompt a closer examination of the examination process itself.
