No High-Level Committee, CIB to Investigate Gold Smuggling: Home Minister

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha assured a fair investigation into the recent smuggling of one quintal of gold. During the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, he emphasized that the central investigation bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police will be allowed with the responsibility of conducting a transparent and impartial inquiry into the episode.

In response to queries raised by MPs, Home Minister Shrestha displayed his commitment to carrying out a thorough investigation without yielding to any external pressures. He emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring a just process.

Addressing the concerns about the investigation, Shrestha clarified that the government would not establish any high-level committee to probe the gold smuggling incident.
