Notorious Tusker ‘Dhrube’ Creates Panic as it Roams Human Settlements in Chitwan
Chitwan, November 13: ‘Dhrube,’ a notorious wild tusker known for its past attacks in Chitwan National Park, has once again been spotted in human settlements, sparking fear among local residents.
The rogue elephant, responsible for the deaths of a total of 22 people in the past, has been observed in wards no. 23 and 24 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City and the Madi area over the last two weeks. According to Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, Information Officer of Chitwan National Park (CNP), ‘Dhrube’ has wreaked havoc in these human settlements, destroying houses, sheds, and properties, causing alarm among the local population.
Efforts are underway to contain the wild elephant’s movements, with two teams, including technical human resources, mobilized for the task. Authorities plan to fit ‘Dhrube’ with a satellite collar to monitor its activities closely.
Additionally, security personnel from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, local residents, and consumer committees in the buffer zone areas have initiated patrolling activities to confirm the movements of the rogue tusker. The situation is being closely monitored to ensure the safety of the residents and prevent further incidents caused by ‘Dhrube’ in the region.
