NTA Revokes License of CG Communications Limited

The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has revoked the license of CG Communications Limited, a company owned by prominent business tycoon Binod Chaudhary. This development comes on the heels of a similar action taken against STS Telecom Sanchar Pvt Ltd for failing to submit a timely renewal application.

CG Communications, which initially acquired its rural telecommunication service license on November 21, 2003, saw its license automatically canceled on November 16, 2023. According to the NTA, the cancellation was a direct result of the company’s failure to submit the renewal application and requisite fee within the prescribed deadline, as stipulated by Rule 12 of the Telecommunications Regulations 2054.

Despite the company’s expressed intentions to continue its service, CG Communications only submitted the renewal application on December 8, 2023, nearly a month past the due date. Consequently, the NTA confirmed the automatic revocation of the license effective from January 2, 2024.

An official notification regarding the revocation was issued to CG Communications Limited in Sanepa through a public notice. This decision underscores the NTA’s commitment to enforcing regulatory compliance and maintaining operational standards within the telecommunications sector.
