Oli Voices Concern Over Decline in University Enrollment and Youth Migration
In a recent event at the 7th Nepal International Film Festival (NIFF), Chairman KP Sharma Oli of the CPN (UML) expressed deep apprehension regarding the dwindling number of students in universities and the escalating trend of youths seeking education and opportunities abroad.
Addressing the audience at the ‘Cinema Dialogue’ program on Friday, Chairman Oli highlighted the concerning surge in the departure of youths for foreign education and employment, resulting in vacant seats in domestic educational institutions.
Chairman Oli emphasized that a significant portion of Nepali students pursuing higher education overseas harbored intentions of settling permanently in foreign lands rather than returning to contribute to their homeland’s development. He underscored the urgent need to redirect the aspirations of the younger generation towards national development and instill in them a sense of duty towards their country.
He stressed that true prosperity for any nation doesn’t solely stem from monetary wealth but rather from comprehensive development across all sectors. He called for concerted efforts to educate and inspire the youth about the value of remaining in Nepal and engaging in endeavors that contribute to the nation’s progress.
Chairman Oli’s remarks shed light on the critical issue of brain drain and the imperative to retain talent within Nepal’s borders for sustainable growth and development.
The event, attended by diverse stakeholders, served as a platform for dialogue on pertinent socio-economic issues facing the nation, including strategies to address the challenges of youth migration and bolster domestic education opportunities.
