Prime Minister Modi’s resounding victory comes amidst the conclusion of the mammoth seven-phase election, touted as the world’s largest democratic exercise. According to the Election Commission of India, Prime Minister Modi defeated Congress candidate Ajay Rai by an impressive margin of 1,52,513 votes.
The BJP secured a notable victory by clinching 240 of the 543 seats in the Lok Sabha. Despite falling short of the majority mark of 272, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP, garnered crucial support from allies such as N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), among others, securing a total of 292 seats.
The Opposition INDIA bloc, led by the Congress, made gains, winning 234 seats, in contrast to the 52 seats it secured in the previous election.
Oli’s congratulatory message highlights the importance of fostering robust diplomatic ties and cooperation between the two neighboring nations. Oli’s outreach signifies a commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting regional stability and prosperity.
