Over 1.8 million farmers enlisted in Farmers Enlisting Programme

Over 1.8 million farmers have been enlisted in the Farmers Enlisting Programme till date.

The government launched the programme in 2077 BS to provide assistance and grants to the farmers.

According to Information Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mahananda Joshi, they were collecting details about the farmers’ produces and the land used for cultivation among others at present.

The integrated statistics is being collected from all over the country. Plan is in place to provide assistances and in-kind support such as fertilizers, seeds and other facilities to farmers through digital medium.

The Agriculture Information and Training Centre has been coordinating the programme which seeks to make a network of farmers in a single platform for the State to provide services and facilities to them through one-door policy and in most convenient way.

Farmers would get an identity card which will be the major basis for receiving State facilities, it was shared. A mobile application (App) will be launched to provide technical support and services to farmers, it was shared.

Information about the farmers is being collected through the local government, said Information Officer Joshi, adding that the programme aims to enlist at least 1.2 million farmers in upcoming fiscal year.
