Over 2,000 Dengue Cases Reported Across Nepal
The country has recorded more than 2,000 cases of dengue across various districts, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division under the Health Ministry. Dr. Gokarna Prasad Dahal, Chief of Vector Control Disease at the Division, confirmed that 2,061 people in 73 districts have been infected with dengue.
Dr. Dahal shared concerns that the number of dengue cases might increase due to weather conditions favorable for mosquito reproduction, with significant rainfall predicted this year.
The breakdown of infections reveals that dengue has been detected in all districts except Mustang, Dolpa, Jumla, and Humla. Kathmandu district reported the highest number of cases, with 249 infections.
In total, the Kathmandu Valley has recorded 316 dengue cases:
- Kathmandu: 249 cases
- Bhaktapur: 38 cases
- Lalitpur: 29 cases
Dr. Dahal urged everyone to adopt necessary precautions as dengue infection rates are expected to rise further.
