PM Dahal Meets with NC President Deuba
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged the major opposition, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, to end the ongoing deadlock in Parliament.
Prime Minister Dahal visited President Deuba at his residence, where the two leaders had a one-on-one meeting, followed by a separate discussion with other NC leaders. During the meeting, PM Dahal requested Deuba to take steps to resume the House business, which has been obstructed by the NC. The Nepali Congress is demanding a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the cooperatives’ fund embezzlement.
Following the meeting, NC Deputy General Secretary Jeevan Pariyar stated that the Prime Minister is making serious efforts to resume the House business and that the meeting with NC leaders was productive regarding the discussion of the agenda.
A meeting of senior leaders from major parties is scheduled for today to address the resumption of House business. Pariyar also mentioned that President Deuba had invited PM Dahal and CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli to his residence for talks, as he was not feeling well enough to attend the meeting elsewhere.
