PM Dahal Slams New NC-UML Alliance: “United by Fear of Good Governance”
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has fiercely criticized the newly formed alliance between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML).
Addressing Parliament on Friday before seeking a vote of confidence, PM Dahal accused the two largest parties of being driven by fear rather than shared ideals.
“If the first and second largest parties were connected by faith and ideals or a common purpose, it wouldn’t concern me. Instead, you are bound by fear—fear of good governance,” he remarked. “For whatever reason UML and Nepali Congress are trying to come together, have the people approved your cooperation or not?”
Expressing concerns about potential regression and autocracy, Dahal stated, “When good governance began to take root, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML united out of fear.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that in a healthy democracy, the main competing party would not form the government, accusing the NC and CPN-UML of steering the country toward regression.
