PM Dahal to Return Home Today from Dubai

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is scheduled to return to Nepal today after successfully leading a high-level delegation at the 28th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28) in the United Arab Emirates.

PM Dahal, who has been in Dubai for the climate conference, is set to arrive in Kathmandu at 6:00 pm. During his participation in COP 28, the Prime Minister underscored the significance of international collaboration in meeting climate commitments and effectively implementing climate actions.

Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, PM Dahal called for a doubling of adaptation finance by 2025. He stressed the immediate allocation of half of climate finance to adaptation efforts, highlighting the need for proactive measures to address the impacts of climate change.

In his official statements, Prime Minister Dahal highlighted the critical need for fulfilling the $100 billion climate finance obligation. He advocated for the reinstatement of the Green Climate Fund and urged for a clear and accessible implementation of the loss and damage fund, particularly benefitting the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
