PM Directs DoTM Officials to Address Public Concerns Over Driving Licenses

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ held a meeting today with the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) to address the increasing public dissatisfaction with the current driving license system. The meeting took place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister expressed concerns over numerous complaints from the public regarding delays and inefficiencies in the issuance of driving licenses, as well as reports of counterfeit licenses circulating. “The discontent and anger among the people, particularly the youth, about these services demand immediate action,” said Prime Minister Dahal.

He stressed the importance of scrutinizing whether the problems stem from policy issues, structural glitches, or a lack of proper intentions. He emphasized the need for the DoTM to urgently revamp the digital licensing system, making it more systematic and responsive to public needs.

Prime Minister Dahal also directed the DoTM to develop concrete suggestions for policy improvements and operational measures to overcome these challenges. The discussions also highlighted the critical timing of these developments as they coincide with the period of new policy and budget planning.

Chief Secretary Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, DoTM Director General Uddhav Rijal, and other key officials participated in the meeting, underscoring a unified commitment to resolving these pressing issues swiftly and effectively.
