PM KP Sharma Oli Praises Late CA Chair Subas Chandra Nembang’s Role in Promulgating Constitution
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has lauded the late Subas Chandra Nembang, Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA) and former Vice-chair of the CPN (UML), for his pivotal role in facilitating the promulgation of the constitution from the historic Second CA. Speaking at a memorial function held at the Tulsilal Memorial Foundation in Chyasal on the first death anniversary of Nembang, PM Oli remembered him as a true follower of democracy.
PM Oli highlighted Nembang’s crucial and positive role in ensuring the success of the Second CA and the promulgation of the constitution. He remarked that Nembang’s leadership and mindset as the CA Chair would always be remembered.
Describing Nembang as an accomplished law and constitutional expert, as well as a patriotic and pro-people personality, the Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over his demise, noting that it was an unprecedented loss to both his family and the party. He announced that the party would establish a Central Foundation dedicated to Nembang, emphasizing that it should be run in alignment with Nembang’s ideals and principles.
The House of Representatives (HoR) also paid tribute to Nembang, recalling his significant contributions to drafting the present constitution. CPN (UML) Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula stated that Nembang’s role in constitution-making and Nepal’s parliamentary system would remain unforgotten. Other parliamentarians also expressed their admiration for Nembang and addressed various contemporary issues during the HoR meeting.
