PM Modi Sets Vision for ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ in Independence Day Address, Calls for United Effort Towards a Developed Nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day celebrations on Thursday, called for significant reforms in India’s agricultural sector, emphasizing the need to improve the lives of farmers across the nation. Speaking from the ramparts of the Red Fort, PM Modi lauded the country’s farmers for embracing organic farming and expressed his vision of India becoming the world’s organic food basket as part of its broader goal of achieving “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).

“We need to reform the farm sector. Today, we are providing easy loans, technology, and fair valuation of produce. As the world grows increasingly concerned about the environment, we are grateful to our farmers for choosing organic farming, for which we have made provisions in the budget,” the Prime Minister stated. “Organic food is a global need, and we have the potential to become the organic food basket of the world. We must strive to improve the lives of our farmers,” he added.

Highlighting the government’s focus on infrastructure and ease of living, PM Modi pointed to the new opportunities arising in India and credited the nation’s progress to these developments. “With the creation of modern infrastructure and the emphasis on making life easier for everyone, we have accelerated our progress,” he said.

Reflecting on the reforms undertaken by his government over the past decade, the Prime Minister noted that these changes have significantly boosted the confidence of India’s youth, encouraging them to take bold steps forward. “After independence, there was an atmosphere of status quo in the country that needed to be broken. People waited for reforms, and when we got the opportunity, we implemented major changes. Our commitment to reform is not for small praise; it is for making the country strong,” PM Modi emphasized.

“This has resulted in a rise in self-confidence. The youth now do not want to walk slowly; they want to leap forward and achieve new things. This is a golden era for India,” he continued. “We should not let this opportunity pass. We will achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat by 2047.”

The Prime Minister also urged the nation to unite in working towards a developed India by 2047, drawing parallels to the determination shown by 40 crore Indians who fought for independence. “If 40 crore Indians could achieve freedom despite all odds, then 140 crore Indians today can work towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he said. “It is the determination of the Indians that drives my resolve. India can become a developed nation by 2047. We must live for the nation and make a strong India.”

Earlier in the day, PM Modi was warmly welcomed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other dignitaries as he arrived at the Red Fort for the Independence Day celebrations. The Prime Minister was dressed in a white kurta and blue vest, complemented by a traditional multicolored safa.

This year’s celebration marks the 11th time PM Modi has addressed the nation from the Red Fort on Independence Day, making him the third Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi to achieve this milestone. The theme for this year’s Independence Day is “Viksit Bharat @ 2047,” underscoring the Government’s efforts to transform India into a developed nation by the centenary of its independence.
