PM Oli Emphasizes Expanding Buddha’s Philosophy Through Education at Lumbini Buddhist University
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stressed the importance of expanding Buddha’s philosophy and teachings through education. Speaking at the 16th Senate of Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) today, PM Oli, who serves as the Chancellor of LBU, highlighted the university’s pivotal role in preserving and promoting Buddhist philosophy, which has made a significant impact on global humanity.
PM Oli noted that LBU is deeply connected to Nepal’s heritage, history, and values, emphasizing that Buddha’s teachings of positivity and friendship remain relevant today. He urged that merely donning a monk’s robe is not enough to embody Buddhist philosophy; true followers must possess both heart and knowledge.
“We have initiated education on Buddhist philosophy to improve lives through quality education,” Oli stated. “Development and success can be achieved through staunch determination and continuous effort.”
The Senate meeting, attended by Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Bidya Bhattarai, approved the university’s policies, programs, and budget for the current fiscal year. It also approved the ‘grace list’ of 285 students set to graduate during the Convocation in December.
