PM Prachanda discusses upgrading Geta Medical College as National Health Science University
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has taken forward the matter of developing the under construction Geta Medical College at Geta in Kailali district as the first National Health Science University in the country.
For this, he today discussed the matter with a group of people including sitting and former ministers and experts representing various districts in Sudurpaschim Province, the Chief Secretary and secretaries of the Ministries of Education and the Health and Population at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
It may be noted that the PM has announced to inspect the project on February 13. During the visit, he is scheduled to reach Kailali and Kanchanpur districts in the Province.
The meeting with the representatives took place ahead of his visit to the Province, said the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. “During my first tenure as the Prime Minister, I had announced about the Sudurpaschim University. It is a matter of pride for me to develop the Geta Medical College as the National Health Science University,” he said.
The government would decide to develop the Medical College as the first Shahid Dasharathchanda National University, he said.
“This is a matter of pride and happiness for the Province and for the entire country. I believe this University will produce qualified doctors, provide specialist medical services and carry out researches relating to specialist medical and public health when the country still lacks a health science university.”
The University is expected to provide quality and cost-effective health services to the people of the Province.
