Police Arrest Five for Gang-Raping 14-Year-Old; Victim Found Pregnant

In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, local authorities have arrested five individuals, including a 30-year-old municipal police officer, a 22-year-old man, and three teenage boys, on charges of gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Chhayanath Rara Municipality.

Police Inspector Bhupendra Budhathoki, who is also the information officer at the district police office, confirmed the arrests and provided details on the heinous crime. The three teenage boys involved in the incident are reported to be under the age of 14.

The horrifying episode came to light when the victim, during a routine health checkup, was discovered to be 18 weeks pregnant. Concerns for her health led her family to take her to the hospital, where the shocking truth was unveiled.

According to the police complaint filed by the victim, the 30-year-old municipal police officer had allegedly visited her house on October 5, 2023, and deceived her into leaving under the pretext of some work. Subsequently, two of the accused committed the heinous act.

As the investigation unfolds, four other suspects remain at large, keeping the authorities on high alert. The police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in the crime.

In a bid to ensure a thorough investigation, the judicial custody of the arrested individuals has been extended by five days, as confirmed by Inspector Budhathoki. The community remains in shock, and local residents are expressing their concerns over the safety of young individuals in the municipality. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
