Post-Mortem of Victims from Tanahun Bus Accident to Be Conducted in Chitwan

The post-mortem of the bodies recovered from Friday’s tragic bus accident in Tanahun, Nepal, is set to be conducted in Chitwan. The accident occurred when a passenger bus carrying visitors from India plunged into the Marsyangdi River at Ainpahara, Ambukhaireni Rural Municipality-2, along the Prithvi Highway.

The bus, with Indian registration number UP 53 FT 7623, was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu when it veered off the road, resulting in the deaths of 27 people. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Rai, the bodies of 26 victims have been transported from Ambukhaireni Hospital to Chitwan for post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, 16 injured passengers were airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment. They are currently receiving care at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu. Police have confirmed that all the deceased and injured individuals are from the Jalgaon district of Maharashtra State, India.
