Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Visit Thailand and America in September
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to visit Thailand and the United States in September, marking his first foreign visits in his fourth term as Prime Minister.
The visit to Thailand is in conjunction with the sixth summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multilateral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), which will be held in Bangkok in September. Amrit Bahadur Rai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has confirmed that preparations are underway for the Prime Minister’s participation in the summit. Efforts are also being made to incorporate bilateral meetings into the itinerary.
Informal discussions suggest that the BIMSTEC summit may be held on September 4 or 5. If there are no unexpected visits to other countries, the Thailand trip will be Prime Minister Oli’s first foreign visit in this term.
Following his visit to Thailand, Prime Minister Oli may travel to the United States to attend the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, which begins on September 10. The assembly will be addressed by heads of state and government from September 24 to 30, with Prime Minister Oli scheduled to speak on September 26.
This dual visit underscores Nepal’s commitment to engaging in regional and global forums, strengthening diplomatic ties, and addressing multilateral issues through active participation in international summits.
