Prime Minister Not to Resign, Decides to Face Vote of Confidence

CPN Maoist Center has decided that Prime Minister ‘Prachanda’ will not resign amidst political upheaval. Following an emergency meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday, Maoist officials resolved to confront the impending vote of confidence without stepping down.

Secretary Devendra Paudel clarified after the meeting, stating, “There is no question of the Prime Minister resigning due to fatigue. As per the constitution, it has been decided to face a vote of confidence in parliament.”

Regarding the timing of the confidence vote, Paudel mentioned that since the coalition partners have not withdrawn their support, scheduling for the vote remains undecided.

The Maoists also concluded that there would be no national consensus from the agreement reached by the two parties at midnight. Accusing the Congress and UML of trying to move towards the 047 system, Paudel said that it had been decided to discuss the matter with various political parties.

In the early hours of Tuesday, the Nepali Congress (NC) and the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) reached a power-sharing agreement, signaling a shift in the country’s political landscape.
