Prime Minister Prachanda Vows Action on Usury Victims

In a recent session of the National Assembly’s National Concern and Coordination Committee, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, widely known as Prachanda, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by victims of usury, microfinance, and cooperatives.

PM Dahal assured the committee that the government is earnestly working to establish a high-powered commission and enact legislation to tackle the issues at hand. He emphasized the importance of swift judicial action, noting that several cases related to usury await court verdicts.

Acknowledging the complexity of legal proceedings, PM Dahal urged the court to expedite hearings, considering the sensitivity of the matter. He stressed the necessity for collaboration between the government and the judiciary to ensure justice for victims.

“The challenges primarily stem from legal intricacies rather than government actions. Completion of court proceedings is crucial for resolution. The government and the court will collaborate to address these issues based on transaction nature,” stated PM Dahal.

The Prime Minister also addressed concerns raised by lawmakers regarding various development projects and national issues. He highlighted ongoing discussions with relevant agencies and stakeholders, emphasizing a strategic approach to expedite projects such as the Kathmandu-Tarai Madhes Expressway and the Sunkoshi Marin Diversion.

Furthermore, PM Dahal underscored efforts to assist British Gurkhas, rescue Nepali youths illegally recruited into the Russian military, and table the Civil Servant Bill. He directed concerned agencies to prioritize the directives of the National Concern and Coordination Committee in formulating the upcoming 16th periodic plan, government policies, and budget allocations.
