Photojournalist Purnima Shrestha has set a remarkable record by climbing Mt. Everest, also known as Sagarmatha, three times in a single climbing season. This extraordinary feat was confirmed by Rakesh Gurung, Director of the Tourism Department.
Shrestha achieved her third ascent of the world’s tallest peak this spring season at 5:50 am on Saturday. She is now the first woman to have climbed Mt. Everest three times in a single climbing season.
Before this season, Shrestha successfully summited Mt. Everest on May 12 and May 19. Her previous successful ascent was in 2018, bringing her total number of Everest climbs to four.
