Rabi Lamichhane Raises Concerns Over Youth Exodus and Political Nepotism
In a passionate address in Syangja, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, voiced his concerns over the increasing trend of Nepali youth seeking opportunities abroad due to the perceived failures of leaders from traditional political parties. Lamichhane highlighted these issues as he emphasized the RSP’s commitment to a mission labeled “2084,” focusing on selecting qualified leaders for the collective good rather than personal gains.
Lamichhane urged party members to identify and support capable individuals, emphasizing a strong stance against candidates who rely on wealth or engage in unethical practices. He pointed out the economic and employment distortions that have contributed to the current crisis and criticized the prevalence of nepotism in political contracts.
The RSP Chairman drew attention to the stark contrast between the lavish lifestyles of leaders’ offspring, who celebrate extravagantly in five-star hotels, and the struggles of citizens who are compelled to send their children abroad for medical treatment. Lamichhane questioned the disconnect between leaders and the electorate, a factor he believes has contributed to electoral losses.
Expressing dissatisfaction with what he perceives as a lack of awareness among political leaders, Lamichhane asserted that the party’s consciousness remained intact. He credited the effectiveness of his team for the party’s potential to address the current challenges.
In a bold move towards transparency, Lamichhane announced his determination to scrutinize the financial accounts of key figures, stating, “I have scrutinized the salaries paid over the last 8/9 months and questioned the opulence of certain individuals.”
In a perplexed tone, Lamichhane questioned the electorate’s continued support for leaders from traditional parties, despite their children and grandchildren seeking opportunities abroad. His address signals a potential shift in the political landscape, as the RSP positions itself as a party committed to addressing the concerns and aspirations of the people.
