Rabi Lamichhane Urges Unbiased Investigation Against Himself and Key Issues
Outgoing Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, has called on the government to initiate any necessary investigations against him without hesitation. Speaking at a farewell program organized at the Home Ministry today, Lamichhane asserted, “If authorities were self-constrained to investigate me previously, they should proceed ahead now. The law applies to me equally if I am responsible for any wrongdoing.”
Lamichhane is accused of misappropriating cooperative funds and has faced criticism in the House over the issue. During his address, he expressed hope for an impartial and effective investigation into various matters, including the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, the Tikapur incident, and the Patanjali and Balmandir land grab controversies.
He emphasized that changes in government should not affect the operations of the police and employee administration, urging officials responsible for home affairs and security to maintain impartiality regardless of leadership transitions.
Lamichhane also addressed the ongoing investigation into gold smuggling cases, noting that the government has not yet released the investigation reports. Reflecting on his four-month tenure in the government, he acknowledged that while significant achievements were lacking, some foundational work had been laid. He urged relevant bodies to strengthen these foundations positively.
