The House of Representatives (HoR) Committee on Industry, Commerce, Labour, and Consumer Welfare today presented its report on the E-Commerce Bill, aimed at regulating and systematizing digital transactions in Nepal.

Committee President Abdul Khan tabled the report during the HoR meeting, emphasizing the need for legal provisions to govern the growing trade of goods and services through online platforms. He stated that the bill is crucial for employment generation, streamlined supply chains, and export promotion in Nepal’s expanding digital economy.

The proposed legislation outlines various measures to monitor and regulate e-commerce activities, ensuring a systematic and reliable framework for online trade. According to the bill, any individual, firm, company, or organization registered under Nepali law and authorized to trade goods or services may conduct electronic transactions, subject to the provisions of the act.

The bill is expected to establish a legal foundation for e-commerce governance, addressing issues such as consumer protection, transaction security, and fair competition in Nepal’s rapidly evolving digital marketplace.
