RSP President Lamichhane Initiates Foot March Over Delayed Road Upgrades

In a bold move to draw attention to the delayed upgrades on the Narayangadh-Butwal road section, Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has embarked on a three-day foot march covering the 113-kilometer stretch from Narayangadh to Butwal. The journey commenced on Monday from Pulchowk in Narayangadh.

President Lamichhane, flanked by party leaders, parliamentarians, and activists, is determined to address the sluggish progress in road improvements along the critical East-West Highway. The Narayangadh-Butwal section, in particular, has been a cause of inconvenience for travelers, prompting this proactive demonstration.

In a bid to maintain a peaceful and non-partisan tone, Lamichhane has urged participants to refrain from displaying party insignias or slogans. The focus remains on drawing the government’s attention to the urgent need for road improvements.

Amidst the march, President Lamichhane took the opportunity to address recent controversies surrounding him. He vehemently denied allegations of borrowing 10 million rupees from a Pokhara-based cooperative. Lamichhane suspects targeted attacks against him and suggested that the corn-cob incident in Pokhara may have been premeditated to tarnish his public image.

As the foot march progresses, all eyes are on Lamichhane and the RSP, eager to see how this demonstration will impact government actions regarding the much-needed upgrades on the Narayangadh-Butwal road section.
