RSP reinstates Rabi Lamichhane as Party President
Rastriya Swatantra Party has reinstated Rabi Lamichhane as party president. Lamichhane has been reinstated after he acquired Nepali citizenship again.
Lamichhane acquired the Nepali citizenship from the District Administration Office, Kathmandu on Sunday afternoon.
A central committee meeting of the party decided to reinstate him as party president.
The party had previously named Dol Prasad Aryal, the party’s vice-president, as the acting president on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court concluded that Rabi Lamichhane is not eligible to remain a member of parliament. A constitutional bench of the Supreme Court annulled Rabi Lamichhane’s status as a lawmaker, concluding that his citizenship is invalid.
With the verdict, Lamichhane also lost the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, and party president.
