Ruling Coalition Partners Seal Eight-Point Accord
In a significant development, the four political parties comprising the newly formed ruling coalition have finalized an eight-point agreement, marking a crucial step towards collaborative governance.
The CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swanatra Party, and Janata Samajbadi Party have solidified their commitment to cooperation for the betterment of the nation through a comprehensive agreement.
Under the leadership of CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the coalition parties have agreed to establish a new government, recognizing the imperative of collective action in promoting good governance, development, social justice, and prosperity.
Key aspects of the agreement include support for CPN (Maoist Centre)’s candidate for the National Assembly chairperson and CPN-UML’s candidate for the vice-chairperson position. Furthermore, ministerial allocations will be determined through consensus among the participating parties, with consideration given to the features of each ministry.
The coalition partners have also pledged to prioritize the finalization of bills related to transitional justice and the peace process to uphold sustainable peace in the country. Additionally, efforts will be made to enhance the effectiveness of all-tier governments through the formulation of federalism implementation laws.
To guide the government’s policy and program, the parties will collaborate on developing a common minimum programme. The reshuffling of the incumbent government will facilitate the implementation of the agreement and pave the way for the formation of a new coalition government.
Moreover, the coalition partners have affirmed their commitment to advancing political stability and reinforcing national sovereignty, independence, and geographical integrity. Their shared vision includes fostering socio-economic development aligned with socialist principles.
The eight-point agreement was formally endorsed by CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane, and Janata Samajbadi Party Chairperson Upendra Yadav, signifying a unified commitment to collective progress and prosperity.
