Sagar Pandey Elected President of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN)

Sagar Pandey has been elected as the President of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), the leading organization representing trekking entrepreneurs in the country. The election took place during TAAN’s 46th annual general assembly on Monday.

Pandey, who has been involved in mountain tourism for the past three decades, will now lead the association in promoting and managing trekking activities across Nepal.

Alongside Pandey, several other key positions were filled in the new executive committee. Karma Sherpa was elected as Senior Vice-President, Bishnu Prasad Lamsal as First Vice-President, Sanam Sherpa as Second Vice-President, and Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa as General Secretary, according to outgoing General Secretary Binod Sapkota.

Rinzi Jangbu Sherpa, Gautam Raj Wagle, and Lakpa Tenba Sherpa were elected as Secretary, Treasurer, and Joint-Treasurer, respectively. Pabitra Tamang was elected as a member under the women’s category.

Other members elected to the committee include Ambir Bahadur Gurung, Binod Kumar Tamang, Hom Bahadur Bishwokarma, Phurpu Chhiring Lhomi (Bhote), Bikas Gurung, Sagar Rai, Chhapte Lama, and Raju Gurung.

The newly elected team is expected to focus on advancing the interests of Nepal’s trekking industry and addressing the challenges faced by the sector.
