Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has summoned a special meeting of the Council of Ministers to address the evolving situation in Israel and the needs of Nepali citizens there, including rescue, repatriation, and relief efforts.
The meeting, scheduled for Monday at 4 pm at Singh Darbar, will focus on the latest developments in Israel, the status of Nepalis residing there, diplomatic actions required to repatriate Nepali citizens, technical management, and other pertinent matters.
Following the Council of Ministers meeting, the Prime Minister has also convened an all-party meeting at Singha Darbar at 5 pm. This gathering will discuss the situation in Israel, as well as the security and well-being of Nepali citizens.
In response to the Saturday morning attack on Israel, Prime Minister Dahal has remained deeply concerned about the incident and has been taking essential measures on behalf of the government.
Diplomatic initiatives are being pursued by the Prime Minister to address the crisis resulting from the Israel-Hamas conflict, with a focus on the safety and repatriation of Nepali citizens. On October 6, Prime Minister Prachanda condemned the incident and extended his sympathies to the families of affected Nepali citizens. He has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assess the condition of injured Nepali citizens at the Nepali embassy in Israel and take necessary steps for their rescue.
In response to the Israel-Hamas conflict and the predicament of Nepali citizens, the Prime Minister held an emergency meeting on Sunday morning with the Deputy Prime Ministers, Minister of Home Affairs, Foreign Minister, Education Minister, National Security Adviser, Foreign Secretary, and heads of security agencies at Baluwatar. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate the situation of Nepalis affected and trapped by the conflict and to plan for their rescue.
During the meeting, a Rapid Action Team was formed, comprising Foreign Minister NP Saud, representatives from relevant ministries, security agencies, and embassies. This team is currently engaged in essential preparations for the rescue and repatriation of Nepalese citizens.
The government has also established a tax collection and rapid information system to facilitate the return of Nepali citizens wishing to come home from Israel.
