Stakeholders Call for Protection of Pathibhara’s Religious and Cultural Uniqueness

Stakeholders have raised concerns over potential threats to the religious and cultural integrity of Pathibhara, urging authorities to preserve its unique heritage.

Speaking at an interaction organized by the Yuma Mang Mukkumlung Pathibhara Protection Coordination Committee on Thursday, participants criticized efforts to alter the site’s identity under the pretext of infrastructure development. They emphasized that Pathibhara should be recognized not just as a geographic landmark but as a sacred site for Sanatan religious followers worldwide.

Mukkumlung Protection Campaigner Chandrahang Kirat alleged that the Pathibhara Temple Area Management Committee and the temple priest were being silenced, preventing them from speaking out against controversial changes.

Religious site researcher Bhim Pandey stressed the need for a strong network to safeguard Nepal’s religious and cultural heritage, warning that attempts were being made to erase elements of eastern philosophy and civilization.

Chairman of the World Hindu Youth Federation, Rishikesh Jung Shah, opposed the construction of a cable car in the Pathibhara area, calling for the project’s cancellation to preserve the site’s spiritual significance.

Former Bagmati Province Assembly member Jiban Dangol, Hindu Jagaran Nepal Chairman Ramkrishna Upadhyay, and other speakers urged the public to remain vigilant and proactive in protecting Nepal’s religious and cultural landmarks.
