Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah Secures Trust Vote
Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, secured a crucial trust vote in the Provincial Assembly on Wednesday, reinforcing his leadership in the province.
The proposal for the confidence motion, presented by Chief Minister Shah during the Provincial Assembly meeting, received a majority of votes in his favor. Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari announced that Shah garnered 36 votes, surpassing the required majority from the 45 Assembly members present.
Out of those present, eight members voted against the motion, while one member stayed neutral. Independent Assembly member Dr. Tara Joshi abstained from voting.
Support for CM Shah came from Nepali Congress, CPN UML, and Nagarik Unmukti Party. However, six members of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and one member from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) were notably absent from the meeting.
In his address during the proposal for the trust motion, Chief Minister Shah emphasized the importance of collective efforts for the province’s prosperity and development. He called for unity among all political parties and lawmakers, stressing that partisan interests should not hinder the province’s political stability and progress.
“Partisan interest does not count for political stability and prosperity,” Shah stated, underscoring the need for a collaborative approach.
Man Bahadur Dhami, the parliamentary party leader of the opposition CPN (Maoist Centre), affirmed his party’s commitment to playing a constructive role from the opposition. He advised the government to ensure that development projects are implemented in a proportional and equitable manner across the province.
