Supreme Court Issues Show Cause Order Over Appointment of Nepal Tourism Board CEO

The Supreme Court has issued a show cause order, demanding a written response from the defendants regarding the writ petition filed against the appointment of Deepak Raj Joshi as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

A single bench of Justice Kumar Chundal issued the order today, directing the government to submit its written response within 15 days.

Dhananjaya Regmi, a competitor for the same position, filed the writ petition on Tuesday, challenging the decision to appoint Joshi. Regmi argued that Joshi’s appointment was made using discretionary powers, bypassing the results of the competitive examinations, and requested the court to annul the NTB Board of Directors’ decision.

Despite the legal challenge, Joshi has already assumed his role as CEO, following the NTB Board’s decision on Thursday.
