Suspension Lifted: MP Tek Bahadur Gurung Reinstated by SC

The Supreme Court has issued a ruling reinstating Member of Parliament Tek Bahadur Gurung from the Nepali Congress party. The joint bench of Justices Manoj Kumar Sharma and Binod Sharma today lifted the suspension that was imposed on Gurung by the Federal Parliament Secretariat on December 27, 2022.
Gurung, who represents Manang in the House of Representatives, was suspended over a corruption case filed against him by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority in February 2019. Despite the allegations, Gurung’s suspension has been lifted, allowing him to resume his duties as an elected member of parliament.
The decision to lift the suspension comes after the Supreme Court’s intervention, which deemed the suspension to be removed until the pending case against Gurung is resolved.
