Taskforce formed to study Chitwan incident

Newly appointed Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak has decided to form a task force to study the incident of the disappearance of two passenger-ferrying buses in the Trishuli River in Chitwan.

After assuming office at the Ministry today, he formed a task force under the leadership of joint secretary Chhabi Rijal. Other members of the task force are the representatives from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force.

The task force would study the reasons behind the incident and recommend precautionary measures to be adopted to avoid such incidents in the future. The task force also has a scope to study relief packages for the families of the passengers of the buses.

Ministry spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that the task force has been mandated to submit a report within 10 days. Minister Lekhak approved the ‘4th Crime Investigation and Control Plan of Action (2081-82 to 2083-84)’.
