Tragic Demise Strikes Two Foreign Tourists in Khumbu Region
A somber atmosphere looms over the Khumbu region of Solukhumbu as news of the untimely demise of two foreign tourists reverberates through the serene landscape.
The District Police Office in Solukhumbu has confirmed the passing of 42-year-old Elizabeth Dairo from Britain and 26-year-old Wenshuo Dong from China. The unfortunate incidents have cast a pall of sorrow over the tranquil vicinity.
According to Anil Kumar Mishra, the Information Officer at the district’s administrative hub, Dairo tragically collapsed at a hotel in Gorakshep of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality-4, around 5:00 pm on February 14. Despite immediate medical attention, her life could not be saved. Dairo, who embarked on her journey on February 7 and was en route to the Everest Base Camp, succumbed to the fall shortly after her collapse.
Similarly disheartening is the demise of Dong, who was discovered unconscious by passersby on February 13. Despite valiant efforts during the rescue operation, his life could not be salvaged. Dong, who arrived in the region on February 6, was reportedly returning from the Renjo La Pass when the tragic incident occurred.
The loss of these vibrant souls has sent shockwaves through the Khumbu region, deeply impacting the local community and fellow travelers alike. As condolences pour in from near and far, authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding these distressing events.
