Tragic Discovery in Mugu: Bodies of Four Family Members Found Dead, Transported to Gamgadhi for Postmortem
In a heart-wrenching discovery, the local authorities in Mugu district have transported the bodies of four family members to the district headquarters, Gamgadhi, for autopsy after they were found dead in Chhayanath Rara Municipality-6. The victims, all belonging to a single family residing in Mandu village, included a mother and her three children. Their lifeless bodies were discovered in their home last Friday.
The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old Sridevi Bohara, her 11-year-old son Manoj, nine-year-old daughter Apsara, and eight-month-old son Rahar, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Thapa at the district police office. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Gamgadhi for a postmortem examination, which is scheduled to take place today.
The bodies of the four victims were received after Dipak, the spouse of the deceased Sridevi, returned home from a foreign job, as reported by Khem Bahadur Rawal, the ward chair of the municipality.
Preliminary police investigations have indicated that the four individuals were murdered with sharp weapons. A police team, accompanied by a detection dog, arrived at the scene of the incident on Saturday to launch an investigation. Additionally, a special team from the province police office is also actively involved in investigating the tragic incident.
The incident site is situated southeast of Gamgadhi, the district headquarters. Based on initial police inquiries, it is believed that on October 24, Sridevi, along with her children, had visited her maternal home in the nearby Kotilla village to receive Dashain tika. They returned to their residence the following evening. Tragically, it is suspected that they may have been murdered on the same night.
On October 26, when neighbors observed that the main door of Sridevi’s house was locked, they initially assumed that the family had gone to their farmland to collect vegetables. However, on October 27, growing concerned about their whereabouts, the neighbors contacted Sridevi’s maternal relatives. To their shock, they were informed that Sridevi had left her maternal home on October 25. Subsequently, the neighbors took the initiative to break open and enter her house at around 10 am, only to discover the lifeless bodies of the four family members, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
