Tragic Road Accidents Claim Two Lives in Jhapa, Eight Injured

In a series of unfortunate events on Saturday, two separate road accidents occurred in Shivasatakshi Municipality and Kamal Rural Municipality of Jhapa, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving at least eight individuals injured.

In the first incident, 23-year-old Anup Dhakal, a motorbike rider from Damak-9, tragically lost his life when a car (Ba 14 Cha 6603) traveling from west to east collided with his motorbike (Me 10 Pa 7212) coming from the opposite direction in Shivasatakshi-10. Despite receiving prompt medical attention at Birta City Hospital Birtamod, Anup Dhakal succumbed to his injuries. Pillion rider Pradeep Basnet, 21, of Urlabari-1, Morang, sustained injuries in the collision. The car occupants, including Anil Kumar Shah, 50, Jaya Prakash Shah, 53, Ranjan Shah, 44, and Lalit Shah, 53, all residents of Birtamod-3, also suffered injuries.

In another tragic incident on the same day in Jhapa, a fatal scooter-motorbike collision claimed the life of 70-year-old Raghunath Bhattarai from Kankai-3. The accident unfolded when a motorbike (Me 6 Pa 3152) heading east collided with another motorbike (Province 1-01-016 Pa 8992) traveling in the same direction. Subsequently, the first motorbike collided with a scooter (Province 1-01-016 Pa 7140) approaching from the opposite direction.

Chandra Prasad Bhattarai, 52, and Raghunath Bhattarai, 70, both residents of Kankai-5, sustained injuries in the collision. Regrettably, Raghunath succumbed to his critical injuries while being transported to the hospital, as confirmed by DSP Khagendra Prasad Rijal.

The incidents serve as a stark reminder of the need for heightened road safety measures and responsible driving to prevent such tragic accidents in the future. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding both accidents to determine any potential contributing factors.
