U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu Arrives in Nepal for Three-Day Visit

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday for a three-day official visit as part of his regional tour, which also included stops in India and Sri Lanka.

The U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu announced that Assistant Secretary Lu will meet with Nepali leaders, civil society representatives, and youth groups during his stay. The visit is aimed at enhancing Nepal-U.S. cooperation in key areas, including environmental protection, women’s empowerment, cultural preservation, and sustainable development.

“This visit underscores the U.S. commitment to strengthening ties with Nepal and advancing shared goals in vital sectors,” the embassy stated.

Lu’s discussions with Nepali stakeholders are expected to focus on promoting collaboration and addressing shared challenges in areas such as environmental sustainability and social empowerment. His engagements with youth groups highlight the importance of fostering dialogue with emerging leaders to shape future cooperation.
