UML Withdraws Support from Government

The CPN-UML, second-largest political party, has officially withdrawn its support from Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s government.

Additionally, UML’s ministers  are scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Prachanda today to tender their resignations.

The withdrawal of support comes amidst mounting pressure from both the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML themselves, urging Prime Minister Prachanda to step aside and facilitate the formation of a new government. The two major parties reached a consensus earlier this week to establish a new government of national unity.

However, the CPN (Maoist Center) has decided against Prachanda’s resignation. Instead, they have opted to challenge his leadership through a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives (HoR).
