Unilever Nepal Pays 3 Billion Rupees in Taxes, Boosts Local Economy
During the third investment summit that began on Sunday in Kathmandu, Unilever Nepal’s Managing Director Amlan Mukherjee shared that the company pays 3 billion rupees in taxes each year, a testament to its commitment and success in Nepal.
“Unilever is undeniably a global company, but our contribution in Nepal is deeply local with significant investments and employment opportunities,” Mukherjee stated. He revealed that the multinational has made a substantial capital investment of 275 million US dollars and its operations include offering over 150 products in the Nepalese market.
Mukherjee also expressed his satisfaction with the company’s robust performance in the capital market, where its share price has surged to 300 US dollars.
Addressing environmental sustainability, Mukherjee announced a major initiative by Unilever Nepal to stop the production of plastic products and emphasized that 60 percent of the plastic used by the company is currently recycled. “Our commitment to environmental protection and hygiene remains strong as we take significant steps to reduce our environmental footprint,” he said.
The summit continues as local and international investors discuss further opportunities in Nepal’s growing economy.
