Upendra Yadav: Fourth in Cabinet Hierarchy as Deputy PM
Today, amidst a ceremony filled with solemnity and political significance, Upendra Yadav took the oath of office and secrecy as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population. However, the subsequent announcement of his hierarchical position within the cabinet has sparked intrigue and debate.
In a list released by the President’s Office, Yadav finds himself placed in the fourth hierarchical position, despite his extensive experience and previous tenure as Deputy Prime Minister. Raghubir Mahaseth assumes the top-priority Deputy Prime Minister role, followed by Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Rabi Lamichhane.
This ranking has raised eyebrows, especially considering Yadav’s history of holding senior governmental positions. Nonetheless, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ remains confident in his decision to expand the cabinet, which now comprises 22 members.
The addition of Yadav and Nawal Kishor Sah, coupled with the allocation of ministerial portfolios, underscores the ongoing efforts to fortify the government and address pressing national issues. Nawal Kishor Sah, in particular, has been entrusted with the crucial responsibility of overseeing the nation’s forests as the newly appointed Forest Minister.
