Urban Development Ministry Spends 17.93% of Budget in Current Fiscal Year

The Ministry of Urban Development has utilized Rs 12.24 billion, or 17.93 percent of its allocated budget, in the first three quarters of the fiscal year 2081-82 BS (2024-25).

Out of the total budget allocation of Rs 91.38 billion, Rs 4.42 billion was earmarked for current expenditures, while Rs 63.83 billion was designated for capital expenditures. So far, 25.23 percent of the current expenditure budget has been spent, while capital expenditure utilization stands at 17.43 percent.

Among the 3,716 new projects planned for this fiscal year, tenders have been called for 1,623, with contracts signed for 1,098 and 124 projects completed. Of the remaining 2,093 projects, 288 have been proposed as multi-year programs. Additionally, out of 1,459 carry-over projects, 280 have been completed.

Infrastructure development remains a key focus, with 162 of the targeted 330 suspension bridges completed. Meanwhile, the Dharahara tower, reopened to visitors on Constitution Day (September 19), has attracted over 130,000 visitors, generating Rs 2.37 billion in revenue.
