USAID Acknowledged as Crucial Partner for Nepal’s Development Efforts

Washington DC – The Ambassador of Nepal to the United States of America, Shreedhar khatri, highlighted the significant role played by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Nepal’s socio-economic development. Speaking at the inauguration of audio-visual material aimed at promoting tourism in Nepal, jointly developed by USAID and the Nepal Tourism Board, Ambassador khatri expressed gratitude for the agency’s unwavering support.

The event, held on Tuesday, showcased a range of audio-visual materials highlighting Nepal’s rich natural heritage and cultural diversity as vital assets on the global stage. Ambassador khatri, emphasized that Nepal’s democratic process and liberal economic policies have paved the way for foreign investment, making the country an attractive destination for potential investors. He urged for increased investment in sectors such as energy, tourism, agriculture, and information technology to further drive Nepal’s development trajectory.

Anjali Kaur, USAID’s deputy assistant administrator for Asia, shared insights into the agency’s strategic focus areas for Nepal’s development. She emphasized that USAID places a high priority on supporting agriculture, tourism, and information technology initiatives in the country. Kaur expressed delight in collaborating with the Nepal Tourism Board to bolster tourism development in Nepal, stating that the USAID remains committed to supporting Nepal’s overall development efforts.

The screening of audio-visual materials, developed by the US Television Channel PBS and its presenter and executive producer Denis Oho, marked an essential milestone in promoting Nepal’s tourism globally. These materials will be showcased in various regions, contributing to enhanced visibility and awareness of Nepal’s tourist attractions.

Prominent figures present at the event included former US Ambassador to Nepal, Peter Bord, Chairperson of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Dr. Arjun Banjade, and embassy officials. Their presence highlighted the growing collaboration and mutual interest in strengthening ties between Nepal and the United States.

The event underscored the importance of USAID’s partnership and support in Nepal’s development endeavors, particularly in vital sectors like agriculture, tourism, and information technology.
