Voting Begins for Local Level By-Election
Voting for the local level by-election commenced this morning at 7:00 AM and will continue until 5:00 PM today. The election is being held for 41 posts across various local bodies, with a total of 226,799 eligible voters casting their ballots.
The by-election is being conducted for mayor and deputy mayor positions in municipalities, two chairs and four vice chairs in rural municipalities, as well as 33 ward chairs across different areas.
Voters can cast their ballots using one of several official identification documents, including a voter’s ID card, citizenship certificate, national ID card, passport, PAN, or driving license.
A total of 376 candidates from 20 political parties and independent candidates are competing for the 41 available posts.
The Election Commission (EC) has urged all voting officers and employees to maintain a free and fair voting environment. Additionally, the EC has called for cooperation from political parties, voters, media, and election observers to ensure the successful and transparent conduct of the election.
