181 AI-Based CCTVs Enhance Surveillance in Budhanilkantha Area

Strengthening its commitment to ensure safety and security in the capital, the Kathmandu Valley Police Office has expanded its reach to the Budhanilkantha area. Under the banner of the ‘Safe Kathmandu: Our Commitment’ campaign, a collaborative effort between the Police Office and the Budhanilkantha Municipality has led to the installation of 181 AI-based Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in the region.

The official launch of the service, held today, signifies a milestone in the direct monitoring capabilities of law enforcement in the Budhanilkantha area. The Rs 50 million project, agreed upon in April, aims to bolster surveillance and enhance security measures in key locations.

Senior Superintendent of Police and Office Spokesperson Dinesh Raj Mainali provided insights into the strategic placement of the CCTVs. They are positioned along crucial routes, including the Budhanilkantha route, Man Bahadur-Chunikhel route, and Kapan routes, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the area.

During the launch event, Budhanilkantha Municipality Mayor Mitharam Adhikari stressed the significance of ongoing collaboration between the Police Office and the local government. The partnership aims to not only enhance peace and order but also reduce crime rates in the town, creating a safer environment for residents and visitors alike.

The deployment of AI-based CCTVs represents a proactive approach towards leveraging technology for public safety. With real-time monitoring capabilities from the control room, authorities anticipate a more effective response to potential incidents, contributing to the overall security and well-being of the Budhanilkantha community.
