Chinese Tourist Vanishes from Hotel, Unpaid Bills Leaves Owner Fuming and Broke!
A Chinese tourist, identified as Jun Li, has disappeared from Hotel Sapana Garden in Thamel, Kathmandu, without settling his outstanding bills for over two months of stay. The incident has left the hotel owner, Devendra Basnet, in a state of financial distress.
According to Basnet, Jun Li had stayed at Hotel Sapana Garden for an extended period, exceeding two months, before abruptly leaving without paying a total of 120,000 rupees for his accommodation and meals. Basnet further revealed that the tourist vanished from the hotel premises approximately one week ago.
“Jun Li had been staying alone in a hotel room for more than two months, accumulating a substantial unpaid balance. He used to spend his entire day in the room and venture out during the night,” stated Basnet.
Basnet explained that due to suspicions that the tourist might attempt to flee without paying, he had relocated the Chinese individual to a different room. The old room was locked, effectively confining the Chinese tourist’s belongings inside. Basnet stated, “We sealed off the old room and transferred the guest to a new room, with the intention of allowing access to the old room only once payment was made.”
However, Basnet expressed disappointment by adding, “Despite our instructions, the guest did not return with the money. The old room contains a bag, but there are no personal belongings inside.”
Basnet mentioned that the local authorities have been informed about the situation, but the missing individual has yet to be located.
