Interim order of SC not to cancel the candidature of Dr.Toshima Karki

The Supreme Court has ordered the Election Commission not to scrap the candidacy of Rastriya Swotantra Party candidate in Lalitpur-3 Dr Tosima Karki as of now.

A single bench of Justice Kumar Chudal issued the interim order to the Election Commission following the hearing on the writ petition filed by Karki.

“Citing the possible irreparable damage to the writ petitioner an interim order has been issued in the name of defendants not to implement its decision to annul her candidacy until the final decision on the issue,” states the interim order issued by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has also sought a written reply from the Election Commission on this issue.

The Election Commission scrapped Dr. Karki’s candidature on Saturday citing that she was an elected member of the Nepal Medical Council and the position was a position of profit.

Karki is contesting a federal lower house seat from Lalitpur-3 on a Rastriya Swatantra Party ticket.

Karki had filed a writ against the Election Commission’s decision in the Supreme Court on Monday.
