Finance Minister Urges Students: Explore Local Opportunities Before Studying Abroad

Finance Minister Dr. Prakasharan Mahat emphasized the need to change the prevailing mindset of immediately pursuing studies abroad after completing the 12th standard.

Speaking at an event held in Kathmandu on Thursday, Finance Minister Mahat expressed the necessity of altering the perspectives of students and youth, advocating for a nationwide shift in this mindset.

He pointed out the ample opportunities available within Nepal and advised against pursuing overseas education unless a 50 to 100 percent scholarship is secured.

The minister highlighted that Nepalese students often miss out on admissions to prestigious foreign universities and the corresponding advantageous prospects due to a lack of proper guidance.

Despite Nepal’s engineering students having the potential to secure scholarships for esteemed international institutions, a concerning 40,000 students leave the country after the 12th grade.

Finance Minister Mahat underscored the substantial prospects in Nepal’s technology sector.
